The research showed that 89% of adults believe that connect home would make their lives ‘more convenient’, and 49% said that a connected home would save household running costs, because of having the ability to measure and manage the consumption of utilities.
Also, the research demonstrates the apprehension amongst consumers when it comes to safety of their homes. 43% of consumers worry that having a connected home would make their home easier to break into, 56% fear control applications will get hacked and 48% said they would prevent buying them in the future.
SQS said in a report: “Providers must prioritise and acknowledge the severity of a potential cyberattack on a consumer home.”
Surprisingly, figures rose to 61% amongst centennials brown between 1995 and 2000.
