Founder and CEO of the Gelder Group Steve Gelder has been made a City & Guilds fellow.
The fellowship is the highest honour conferred by the Council of City & Guilds Institute, equivalent to a PhD or professional Doctorate, and is only awarded in recognition of outstanding professional and personal achievements.
Steve Gelder, who began his working life as an apprentice bricklayer, set up the Gelder Group in 1988. It is now one of the East Midlands’ most recognised construction companies and nationally recognised for its commitment to apprenticeships and developing young talent; more than 300 apprentices have gone through its programme since 1988 and the group regularly invites students to it offices for work experience.
Gelder, who received an MBE in the 2007, said, “It is always nice to receive recognition but in reality it is on behalf of everyone at Gelder Group. We have such a good team who work so hard for our customers, support one another and consistently deliver on our vision of Inspiring a new Generation in Construction.”
