LV= General Insurance has launched two new standards intended to drive forward its commitment to sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
The Green Heart Supplier Promise and Green Heart Standard for the Building Contractor Network (BCN) have been introduced to support suppliers adopt ethical practices that are better for the environment and the communities in which they operate.
As part of the Green Heart Supplier Promise, LV= GI will ask its suppliers to make the following commitments: reduce carbon emissions towards a net-zero end goal; introduce 100% renewable energy sources where possible; consider introducing Social Enterprises within their own supply chains; and monitor Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies, such as reducing the gender pay gap.
Meanwhile, the Green Heart Standard for the BCN mirrors the same initiative launched for motor repairers a year ago. It provides guidance for building contractors around mental health awareness, environmental impact, carbon emissions management, and diversity around age and gender within the workplace.
Martin Milliner, Claims Director at LV= General Insurance, said, “Our ultimate goal is that the whole supply chain embeds the ethos of our two new standards, as we continue to develop our approach and learn about how we can help the sector become more socially and environmentally responsible.
“It’s also crucial we support and encourage fair opportunities for everyone, irrespective of background so that we can encourage diverse, forward-thinking workplaces in the industry. We hope what we’re doing will help develop a shared mindset with our supplier partners.”Tweet
