ILC’s Home & Property conference – The Subsidence Surge – has received the full support of specialist members group, The Subsidence Forum.
The conference, which takes place on Thursday 23 March at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Coventry, is headline sponsored by Optera Structural Solutions, along with Gold Sponsors: 360 Globalnet, Geobear, Innovation Group and Sedgwick, as well as Silver Sponsors: Davies.
The Subsidence Forum is open to any organisation or individual involved with the insured subsidence risk.
Chair of The Subsidence Forum, Sarah Dodd, said, “Following record breaking temperatures in summer 2022 the industry is dealing with a surge in the number of tree root subsidence claims. A rise in the number of claims is something we can expect to see more and more with climate change increasing our temperatures here in the UK.
“In my dual role as both Director of Tree Law and Chair of The Subsidence Forum, I look forward to the Subsidence Surge conference. This is a way for all of those involved in subsidence claims to get together, discuss pressures, trends, ideas and solutions. Climate change has shown us that patterns are changing into the future so we all need to work together to reach some new solutions.
“The Subsidence Forum is pleased to support ILC in hosting this discussion and looks forward to the Subsidence Surge Conference.”
The event will consider three key areas: the size and progress of the surge; the resource and innovation used so far; and the next phases. The conference will also look at the many issues and complexities involved, from new environmental pressures to helping the challenges local councils have in dealing with claims. The event will also explore the claims that are still open from 2018 and those that might reopen, to highlight the challenges these present for insurers and policyholders.
