Copart is marking National Mentoring Month by highlighting the success mentoring has had on its Apprenticeship scheme.
As part of the Copart Cares CSR commitment, the business actively encourages the personal development of all teammates, and its ongoing mentoring programme has proven an extremely effective way of building skills and knowledge for both the mentor and the mentee.
Used in conjunction with the Copart Apprenticeship scheme the business has supported over 120 apprentices to learn new skills, gain industry recognised qualifications, and receive potential progression opportunities within Copart.
At its Operation Centre in Sandy, Bedfordshire, Yard Operative Sam Davies has benefited from having the support of a mentor as he works towards his City & Guilds Team Leader Level 3 apprenticeship qualification.
Acting as mentor for Sam is Simon Merrills, Yard Manager at Sandy.
“Being Sam’s mentor has not only helped him to progress within the business, but it has also helped me to gain the experiences I need for my own development.” said Simon. “Seeing Sam achieve what he has makes me proud to be a mentor because I have helped him to progress within Copart.”
Sam said, “Simon has given me sound advice and a real insight into different management styles, as well as the freedom to manage the team under his supervision. It’s been an invaluable experience and has helped to develop my career towards a future management role.”
National Mentoring Month highlights the benefits of mentoring programmes and raises awareness about the power of positive working relationships.
