DAC Beachcroft has taken a number of steps to promote equity, diversity and inclusion within its workforce as it enhances its commitment to helping its clients and colleagues succeed.
Among its initiatives are the Lifting the Lid Events, established to help clients and colleagues better understand others’ outlooks and challenges, including sensitive topics such as menopause and neurodiversity.
It has also established a Disability Working Group and appointed Accessibility Champions to provide support to colleagues with a disability or health condition or who are neurodiverse.
Meanwhile, Location Heads support Access, the firm’s racial inclusion network, to attract more candidates from underrepresented minority ethnic groups, while DACB Reconnect is a career returners programme created to access a wider pool of experienced lawyers and to support gender equality.
These initiatives have been introduced to accelerate DAC Beachcroft towards its inclusive targets, which include 40% of senior leadership roles to be held by women by 2025, 90% diversity data collected, up from 76%, and an ethnic diversity talent pipeline and leadership group to reflect local demographics more closely.
Virginia Clegg, Senior Partner, said, “It has never been more important to learn about each other’s perspectives, values and sense of purpose. It is our collective understanding and respect for each other that creates an inclusive culture and a safe space for colleagues to be themselves, to contribute fully and to offer challenge to drive change. We have made progress in recent years with the diverse make up of our business but we need to do more to effect change more quickly. Each of us can and must play our part.”
