Panel set to discuss future claims skills needs

A panel of experts from across the sector will discuss the future skill needs within claims at the forthcoming New Generation in Claims event.

The event, which takes place on 26 April at etc.venues Manchester, is headline sponsored by Wiser Academy along with fellow sponsors Carpenters Group, Enterprise and Zurich Insurance and is set to shine a light on the need for both retaining talent and attracting new, diverse skillsets to the insurance claims sector.

ILC has launched ClaimsTech – The Pitch, a new event created in partnership with ITUK to showcase the latest technologies developed to support the insurance claims function.

EVs bolting ahead of charging network

A new report has underlined the need to develop the UK’s public electric vehicle charging infrastructure after predicting that 2.5 million EVs and hybrids will be sold in 2030, or 93% of the UK’s total vehicle sales.

The study, carried out by EY and Eurelectric, also expects there to be 33.4 million EVs in the UK by 2040, which is 72% of the total car parc.

Data and capacity key to repair process

Castle Insurance Services has made its first acquisition since becoming part of Global Risk Partners last May. The Durham-based business has acquired M R Lonsdale & Partners, which is also based in Durham.

BIBA unveils new tech scheme

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has launched a new insurance scheme for computers and portable equipment.

Provided by HSB, the new policy includes cover for installed hardware, portable computer equipment and additional electronic office equipment, as well as full theft cover.

Future focus for the FCA

The FCA’s Business Plan 2023/24 has identified four focus areas to achieve better outcomes for customers and markets.

Alongside the Consumer Duty, which will be introduced in July, the FCA will also work with partners to deliver the outcomes of the new Future Regulatory Framework and Edinburgh Reforms. Further, it will set out new proposals to reform the listing regime to promote competition, and will continue to look for innovative ways of reducing and preventing financial crime.

Carpenters secured gender equality accolade

Carpenters Group has been recognised as one of the top organisations for gender equality.

It scored 92.5 out of 100 in the Lead5050Equity Index and ranked 38 out of over 10,000 companies that submitted their Gender Pay Gap data to the UK government.

FCA joins anti greenwashing initiative

The FCA has announced it will be one of 13 international regulators taking part in the first ever Greenwashing Techsprint, which aims to develop a tool or solution that can help tackle the risks of greenwashing in financial services.

Greenwashing Techsprint is being introduced by the Global Financial Innovation Network, a group of over 80 international organisations committed to supporting financial innovation.

Verisk strides down ESG path

Verisk has set out its commitment and progress towards sustainability in its Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which highlights the ESG steps it has already taken.

Lee Shavel, Verisk president and CEO, said, “The past year was like no other in Verisk’s history. Yet, for all that’s changed, much more has remained constant. We continue to pursue sustainability and growth through the lens of a responsible ESG framework.”

Global data analytics and technology provider Verisk has named Chris Sawford as new managing director of claims UK.
