Claims industry set to break £1m fundraising barrier  

ILC’s Motor Claims Networking Lunch, which takes place on Friday 25 March, looks set to break the £1m fundraising barrier for children’s charity, Rainbow Trust.  

The annual event, headline partnered by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, will see key persons of influence from across the motor claims insurance sector gather to help raise much-needed funds for the charity which supports families with seriously ill children.

Enterprise updates booking platform 

Enterprise has announced two major upgrades to its Enterprise Travel Direct (ETD) booking platform intended to make it more accessible to customers. 

The platform now includes text alternatives for non-text content, securing accreditation for online accessibility for people with disabilities, and it is also now fully mobile-responsive, allowing renters to access its services while on the move. 

Copart collaboration enhances flood capabilities 

Copart has secured a partnership with specialist drying and decontamination business Polygon that enhances its capabilities around water and smoke-damaged vehicles. 

It is now able to handle large volumes of vehicles damaged by flood or extreme weather incidents, offering insurers a complete end-to-end solution including vehicle collection, triage, repair and return where possible, and resale via a global buyer base.

LV= broadens Green Heart initiative  

LV= General Insurance has launched two new standards intended to drive forward its commitment to sustainability and reduced environmental impact.  

The Green Heart Supplier Promise and Green Heart Standard for the Building Contractor Network (BCN) have been introduced to support suppliers adopt ethical practices that are better for the environment and the communities in which they operate.  

New solution tackles late-payment problem 

Payment platform ProjectPay and Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking have developed the first payment platform specifically tailored for the construction industry.  

The secure end-to-end solution built on proprietary technology has been launched to tackle the issue of late or non-payments within UK construction by making project accounts available immediately, without contractors having to wait for project bank accounts to be set up. 

UK InsurTech goes public 

Walsall-based Ondo has become the first InsurTech to go public in the UK. Ondo is the new name given to LeakBot following the reverse takeover with Spinnaker Acquisitions. 

The Ondo LeakBot device uses IoT technology to help home insurers reduce claims by detecting small water leaks before they cause damage.

Verisk announces GT Motive collaboration

Verisk and GT Motive have announced a new technology partnership that will streamline workflows, accelerate claims decisions and reduce manual input.  

As part of the collaboration, Verisk will integrate its IVI motor repair pricing and triaging solution with GT Motive’s claims calculator.  

SS&C brings in RPA skills  

SS&C has completed the acquisition of automated technology company Blue Prism. The deal will integrate Blue Prism’s robotic process automation (RPA) solutions with SS&C’s Fund Administration and Investment Management Outsourcing. 

A statement said, “We believe combining SS&C and Blue Prism will significantly increase our value proposition. Blue Prism clients will access SS&C’s full suite of solutions across the global financial service and healthcare industries.” 

Percayso reduces Frontier risks  

Percayso Inform has agreed to deliver insurance intelligence solutions to Frontier Insurance, an insurance intermediary that provides online self-service solutions for customers who want to update their polices in line with changing circumstances. 

Frontier will tap into the Percayso Inform API, which generates customer insights in real-time to offer a deeper understanding of risk at the point of quote. 

Lemonade launches climate coalition 

Lemonade is introducing the Lemonade Crypto Climate Coalition, a new initiative that will use blockchain technology to deliver affordable climate insurance to the world’s most vulnerable farmers. 

The solution, which unites industry leaders across different sectors, enables farmers in emerging markets to buy parametric climate or weather insurance over their phones. It is expected to rollout in Africa within year.

Zego joins IFB

Zego has ramped up its efforts to protect customers against insurance fraud by becoming a member of the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB), which works across industry to tackle and investigate criminal groups targeting the insurance sector. 

Zego hopes that access to the IFB’s counter-fraud solutions will enhance its own counter-fraud capabilities, while at the same time lending its experience to the industry’s collective efforts to detect and disrupt fraud. 

Marsh launches ESG assessments 

Insurance broker and risk advisor Marsh has introduced an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Risk Rating intended to help organisations measure and manage ESG risk. 

The free assessment rates ESG performance across 18 themes before providing an overall score, enabling companies to easily identify sustainability and climate-related risk areas.  

Fast-track route to Master’s Degree 

Graduates of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance can now achieve a Master’s Degree in Business Administration by completing just three more modules. 

Recognising the level of understanding required to achieve CII’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance, Coventry University is now offering post-graduate qualifications to students who also complete three additional modules on leadership and management, global marketing and applied projects.
