MIB tackles menace of uninsured drivers
The Motor Insurers’ Bureau is partnering with NPCC’s National Roads Policing Operations, Intelligence and Investigations (NRPOII) to launch a week-long operation, Op Drive Insurers, to take uninsured vehicles off the road.
MIB received more than 26,000 claims from victims of uninsured drivers last year, with someone else being hit by an uninsured driver in the UK every 20 minutes.
Solus chief joins industry fellowship
Managing Director and Aviva Repair Lead Solus ARC Simon Smith has become a member of the Society of Leadership Fellows.
He will join a team of 250 industry leaders across all sectors who will come together to share learning and best practice.

Global advisory, broking and solutions company WTW is launching a new digital commercial insurance platform in collaboration with insurers Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM).
The platform, which covers both renewals and new business, has been designed to enable multiple insurers and brokers to trade complex specialty risks in real time.

Green skills critical to Net Zero
The Construction Leadership Council has backed a new reporting outlining the challenges faced by the UK in meeting its climate change commitments.
Published by NOCN and BACH, the report warns that Net Zero will only be possible if a green workforce is trained to build, maintain and retrofit green technologies and solutions.
The CLC has also published its Skills Plan, which provides clear information about how to join the construction sector, which needs to recruit upwards of 53,000 people a year to maintain output.

NFP makes first move into Irish market
In a first move into the Irish market, US-based property and casualty insurance broker NFP has acquired Dublin-based health and life insurance adviser Tailored Finance.
As part of the deal, Tailored Finance Managing Director, Jeremy Tucker will join NFP and report to Colm Power, Director, NFP in Ireland.
Kitsune enters into administration
Peter Kubik and Brian Johnson of UHY Hacker Young LLP have been appointed joint administrators of Kitsune Associates Ltd. The joint administrators are continuing to trade the business to enable the existing policies to be run off. Existing policies are not affected, however no new business is being offered.

Davies unveils insurance ‘bootcamp’ to tackle skills crisis
Davies has launched an Insurance Skills Bootcamp to help attract new talent to the industry.
Open to anyone over the age of 19 who is unemployed in the Greater London area, the 10-week bootcamps will cover the broader insurance landscape, time management, relationship-building, and presentation and interview skills.
Employees suffering from cost-of-living burden
Aviva’s Age of Ambiguity study, which has been tracking employees’ experiences of work since before Covid-19, has revealed that 79% are feeling the pinch of the cost of living, while 34% say they are no longer prepared for an unforeseen life event such as serious illness or redundancy.
The study further found that 30% of employees feel debt levels are detrimental to their wellbeing and half say it is affecting their mental health.
Salaries set for small increase
Average salaries are expected to rise by five per cent in 2023, according to WTW’s latest Salary Budget Planning Report.
It found that 86% of companies are raising salaries in response to inflationary pressures, with 68% saying have spent more than they originally planned on pay adjustments in the last 12 months.
ABI sets diversity agenda
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has published a new blueprint to increase diversity within the industry.
The initiative sets out a multi-year strategy that includes recruitment practices to attract talent from all backgrounds to continuous career development.
