Tell us about your role. What do you do, and what do you find most interesting about it?
I joined Copart in January 2019 as an Account Executive for our Insurance Sales Team. I was then promoted to Account Executive Team Leader just before the peak of the pandemic hit us.
As a team, we are the day-to-day point of contact for our insurance customers and are continuously ensuring the best service is provided, not only to them but also to their policy holders.
My role is to ensure that as a team we continuously deliver value to our customers and do our upmost to provide a smooth total loss journey. This covers everything from supporting them and providing quick resolutions, through to accelerating value in the services we deliver and building strong relationships.
We also have the pleasure of visiting our customers and attending industry events, where we like to showcase all the amazing things that we do here at Copart, from our people through to our unique patented auction technology, and everything in between!
I am very proud of the amazing team I work alongside. Everyone has a can-do attitude and brings their very best to Copart day in, day out. I love the feeling of knowing we can make a real difference for our customers.
In addition to regular engagement with our customers, we also benefit from working closely with all the different teams across Copart. This gives us the necessary understanding of the end-to-end process, which in turn enables us to support our customers and their policy holders.
After being with Copart for 3 years now, I still learn something new every day. This is the reason the role itself is so interesting. There’s always more to achieve, even further to go, and a real focus on continual improvement.
I am also fortunate enough to help with co-ordinating some of the charity events we do, which is another reason I enjoy my role. Each time we raise money for the different charities, not only are we raising awareness but also much needed funds. It’s always the best feeling when you see the whole of Copart come together as one big family and show just how much we care for our communities.
What made you want to work in this industry?
I had come from a sales background, where customer service was at the forefront of everything I did.
So, when I saw an opportunity to join a business where I already knew their core values were those I aspire to, it seemed the perfect opportunity to challenge myself and go into an industry that I had no prior experience in.
Lockdown showed us what a vital role we play in the total loss journey. It was a humbling feeling working throughout the pandemic and knowing that as a business we were doing our part to keep the cogs turning for our customers and their policy holders.
What do you see as the biggest challenge to your industry in the next year?
At Copart, we are always striving to do better and absolutely everything we do is focused on delivering exceptional service and overall value to our customers.
Over the last year, many businesses have experienced changes to their workforce and Copart is no different. We’ve had some people leave to pursue other career opportunities and finding the right people to fill those roles can be a challenge.
But of course, change also provides great benefits. We’ve welcomed many new teammates, who bring their own valuable skills and experience (and a fresh new perspective) to our business.
I think another challenge over the next year will be the increasing pace of new tech development, to meet the growing and changing needs of our customers as they seek more service solutions that are fast, efficient, and easily accessible.
The constant pace of change is very exciting, and we have many amazing teams across our business that are continuously collaborating to take things to the next level for our customers. I have every confidence that we will rise to this challenge and exceed their expectations!
How would you like to see the industry improved next year / 5 years / by the time you retire?
I would welcome and encourage more women leading the way in this industry and I think we are starting to see this more so now than ever before.
With times moving so fast and everything being so instant, we also need to make sure we keep innovating and delivering digital solutions. At Copart, we are results focused so we’re already looking into what more we can do integrate our systems and provide bespoke tools.
We always love to hear suggestions and feedback, so if you have anything you’d like to see in the industry in the next 5 years please get in touch.
Also, with ESG as a high priority I would love to see everyone committed to net zero emissions, more innovative ways of reusing materials, and the whole industry playing their part for the good of our environment.
If you could give your 16-year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be?
If one door shuts another one opens! At the age of 16, I would not have envisaged that I’d be working in the motor industry, yet Copart has really been the highlight of my career.
Not only do I get to do what I enjoy daily, the fact I get to do this with the amazing teams I work alongside makes it extra rewarding.
Finally, I would say it’s never too late to try something new, so if you like the sound of all of the above come and join us!
