Our 6th Home and Commercial Claims Lunch took place on Friday 17 May 2019.
Those who have been to previous networking lunches will know that our celebrity guest speakers are always entertaining and offer a fascinating insight into their world.
At the event we were delighted to welcome to the stage Ken Clarke, current Father of the House as one of the longest-serving MPs in the country. Having worked within Parliament for over four decades he served within the Heath, Thatcher, Major, Cameron and May administrations. Highly respected by all sides of the parliamentary divide, his occasionally controversial views on the economy, law and order, and Europe were superbly informed and a pleasure to listen to.
- First entered the House of Commons in the 1970 General Election as the Conservative MP for Rushcliffe, Nottingham
- A hugely influential career spanning high profile roles including former chancellor, former home secretary and former health secretary, Ken is ideally placed share his thoughts on the deliver thoughts on the current political and economic climate
- An inspiring thought leader known for his liberal and pro-European views, he also spans the business arena with insight gained during his time as Deputy Chairman and a director of British American Tobacco, Chairman of Unichem and Deputy Chair of Alliance Unichem and as a non-exec director of Independent News and Media
- Passionate about for sport (particularly football, motorsport and cricket), bird watching and jazz music, Ken is the only serving MP to host their own regular radio programme on Radio 4, Ken Clarke’s Jazz Greats.
